Bruegger's Bagels - Carlsbad

I ordered a whole bagel with cream cheese and lox, specifically requesting just a light spread of cream cheese. Instead, I received a pretty hard bagel that had been slathered with cream cheese as if someone had just dumped a spoonful on it. They also added red onions, capers, and tomatoes, even though I clearly only asked for lox and light cream cheese—no capers or onions, no tomatoes. It seems like they might be overwhelmed with orders, and a better system of taking notes would help improve accuracy. Unfortunately, the bagel itself wasn’t great; it was a bit tough, and the lox was just okay—smoky but nothing special.

The staff is wonderful, the coffee is amazing, and of course, the bagels are superb!

They make the bagels on site and very good options. I came in because the restaurant had too long a waiting time for Father's Day next door, but glad I came here and would come back.

The mask ?memo? came out recently and we went for lunch. The staff at the el Camino site is usually not as friendly as possible, but today they were extremely rude. I explained I am pregnant for 8 months and find it difficult to breathe with a mask and they refused to serve. Then they told me to order and wait outside. So for 1 minute while preparing my meal, I have to wait outside. People sat without masks just a few meters away. Extremely rude, unhappy service. We will not return.

The Smokehouse Brisket Egg Sandwich was surprisingly good and the best bagel I?ve ever had at Bruegger?s. The hazelnut coffee was as flavorful as always. (Sorry for the limited pic of the sandwich. I was totally in the midst of mowing it down when I realized I should pause and write a review. It was good enough to totally distract me from my mission! ?
