I think this is interested on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for everyone. the food was delicious, the authenticity is certainly there, which my partner and I have very appreciated. the service was amazing and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. would definitely come back when I lived in cardiff my personal favorites were the pumpkin curry (fat sister) and the cabbage together with the funnel (unfortunately I have no pictures. what happened on this trip a lot, but I guess I just had the moment so much longed that it slipped my head) updated by previous review on 2022-01-13
Nice little place in the centre of Cardiff with lots of clearly labelled vegan options. I had a pineapple curry with rice and it was really tasty.
Lots of tasty vegan options to choose from. I went for the flatbreads, vegan hopper, breaded mushrooms, the fat sister and a pineapple curry. We sat outside in one of the covered small huts, which was perfect on a sunny day. It's a great vibe outside with lots of music and friendly staff. My food was delicious. We went with other vegan and vegetarian friends and all tried different things, we all enjoyed our meal a lot. It was quite expensive because you have to buy a lot of different dishes, tapas style. We popped in for lunch and the waiting staff were super friendly and easygoing they straight away asked if we were vegan, and when I said we were, the waitress marked out which dishes we could eat and also said she could make some of the other dishes vegan if we wanted them (e.g. the mixed rice). We ordered 6 dishes between the two of us: mixed rice, vegan khotta, fat sister' pumpkin curry, pineapple curry, jackfruit balls and fried mushrooms. The rice and khotta were BIG portions; we would have been fine just ordering one between the two of us, I think. The food was great quite simple but packed with flavour! (It felt like authentic street food in that way) Best dishes were the fried mushrooms and jackfruit balls, I think! The khotta was amazing too like a fried rice but with shredded bread! The music was a bit loud and the seats weren't super comfy, but the food and service made up for it!
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with Sri Lankan artefacts. I ordered a dal and red rice. I feel that the recipe of the dal needs some improvement. I however liked the uniqueness of using red rice. We found the seating quite uncomfortable as they were quite raised and no back support. I did not appreciate one of the staff members comments about how they could not go vegan when I'm there to enjoy good food and Company. Not appropriate. I'd have really appreciated to hear Sri Lankan music to get the full authentic experience. I couldn't appreciate the western club music that was played. I'd come again because I'd like to try the rest of the menu.
