Cafe Restaurante O Rustico - CARAVELA

This rural village sits well off a main road and entering it is a bit like stepping back in time. Whatever reason brings you to this area, the restaurant is more than worth your time and effort. We found it by asking the locals, and we were delighted. The restaurant is truly rustic, and when we came to dinner around 7:30, we were presented with a platter of freshly caught fish and another with seven or eight different slabs of meat. We chose a large beef cutlet that was well marbled. The dinner included some fresh vegetables and fried potatoes, and the meat was enough for the two of us. It was absolutely the very best. We saw the grill later, a stone table with a low wood fire. The family dog was curled underneath absorbing the warmth. This is, without a doubt, one of the finest meals we have had anywhere. No fancy linen, no pretentious wine list (red or white), and of course, a glass of fabulous port at the very end. Thumbs up, up, way up!

Very good restaurant. Excellent BBQ (the meat is perfectly cooked . Quiet place and beautiful surroundings. We found this place because we were staying in the BNB in the village. Prices are fair. About 20e for a full diner and drinks for 3 people. Recommanded to families with children (and dogs.. our found friends there.... We loved the place and the people there.

The very generously sized steak was even a challenge for my husband and the kids were kept busy with the huge plate of chips! The food was good and the setting, a great rural location in a village not for from Bragança. Would recommend!

A genuine rural Portuguese restaurant with hospitable hosts and the most amazing cooking. I'd certainly recommend the BBQ steak but other dishes are equally excellent.

Local para conhecedores e apreciadores da boa carne mirandesa. Fica na aldeia de Caravela na zona de Bragança. Local restaurado com muito gosto. Simpatia impar dos funcionários e dos proprietários. Salas espaçosas. Comida muito caseira, onde até os enchidos são de fabrico local. Recomendo a posta ou costoleta à mirandesa. Preço médio/alto mas compensado totalmente pela comida e atendimento. A visitar quando andar pela zona...
