I had a Caesar salad and although the dressing tasted great, there was undoubtedly cross contamination. Perhaps it was because the restaurant was busy (and out of many items) or maybe some miscommunications in the kitchen--regardless, it is not my first, second, or third choice for gluten free dining in Cape Charles which is why I give it 2 stars.
Splendid food, fantastic view, and wonderful service. The fried shrimp was wonderfully crispy with the sweet chili slaw. The dish came with a large portion of the slaw, so I ended up taking some home. The crab dip was to die for, served very hot. We loved the garlic toast it was paired with. We were too excited for our entrées and dug in immediately, forgetting to take a photo right away. Very hearty portions. The fried oysters were better than from any other restaurant we have tried. The remoulade coupled marvelously with the oysters and crispy potatoes, and the coleslaw was sweet (how we like it). The Alfredo was deliciously rich and creamy. I do wish there were more shrimp with the pasta, but again, the portion was quite large for me and it was delicious even without the shrimp. Also, I think they were spaghetti noodles, not fettuccini, but that did not subtract anything from the dish. Overall it was definitely a 5 star experience. If you are visiting Cape Charles, you have to stop by!
My fiancé and I were on vaca in Cape Charles and were super excited about the oyster farm but sadly it wasn't worth it's hype... the food was not great; hamburger was severely undercooked and the fried oysters were also very mushy and undercooked, not to mention its very overly priced. The only plus to this restaurant is the servers and the beautiful view.
Twice the price and half the quality. I'm a native and know seafood. Hope my meal in late April 2022 was a one-off, but it literally cost twice what I would have paid at Exmore Diner, 40% to 50% of cost at Island House (Wachapreague) and was nowhere near as good as either. Oysters were okay but 60% of plate was covered in mediocre french fries. My companion's crab soup was first served lukewarm (later replaced with hot fresh bowl) and her side dish was average at best. Staff were nice, however.
Solid option in the beautiful Cape Charles area. Quality of service and food is a bit up and down, which I believe is due to staffing levels. Prior to COVID 5 stars. A little more variety in the menu would be welcomed for those with a seafood allergy.
