Lakeside Golf Club - Canyon Lake

I used to love playing here and the course was turning around but New owners took over this course 2 years ago. We were hoping for some positive changes, However nothing has been done to improve the course. This course looks abandoned. The greens are not being maintained, the fairways are prairie grass. It’s obvious there is no course maintenance being taking place on this course, Basic weed eating and mowing is not done. Large patches of tall grass on the fairways, and no watering is taking place. If you do manage to be in the fairway your ball is more than likely going to fall in a large crack and you won’t be able to find it.The sand traps are full of stickers and dirt that you cannot play out if. It seems there is no one managing this place. You can hardly find an employee at times. There are zero cart girls running so you must load up before the round or run to the pro shop between 9’s just to stay hydrated.Upon playing we witnessed groups of 6 to 8 players at a time running into each other, and tearing up the few golf carts they have left. We went to the bar and a hamburger was $15.00. Hopefully changes are soon to come but at this time it is not worth the price to play at this course. The only good thing I have to say is the members are incredible people out there and would be the only reason I’d come back.

Worst course we have ever played at. Do yourself a favor and just skip golfing if this is the only course you can get a tee time with. There is a reason they have open tee times. Definitely not worth $45. This is a $10 course max. 6/23/2023

Overall not bad for the price, but go into it knowing that the new owner is working to improve a course that is in complete disrepair. I think it has a ton of potential if they get it all going over the next couple of years. (Greens, bunkers, mowing, etc. I played with a local which made it more fun and overall a good day.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT waste your time and money out here. Place needs to be bulldozed…Paid the same price as I would have to play Landa Park….which is absolutely ridiculous! It was so bad we decided to call it quits after 8 holes and they wouldn’t give us a 9 hole refund. No grass in the fairway and damaged clubs from all the rocks under what grass you could find. Greens were so bad they were automatic 2 putt if you hit them. Holes haven’t been moved in so long dirt/debris has filled up the cups and 1/2 the flags were damn near leaning sideways. If I could leave 0 stars I could. Save your reputation…shut the place down and rework it.

I had the pleasure of playing at Lakeside Golf Club recently and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised! It appears that the management has taken into account many of the observations made by other reviewers, and the course was in great condition. The unique features of the course, such as the changes in elevation and narrow fairways, made for a challenging yet fun round of golf. The consistency of the fairways and greens was much better than what I had read in previous reviews. The exceptional staff, including the manager Alberto Amero, were very friendly and welcoming. The location of the course is beautiful, with stunning views of the lake. Overall, I would highly recommend Lakeside Golf Club to anyone looking for a great round of golf and a lovely setting. Kudos to the management and staff for taking care of the course and making our experience exceptional! Five stars!
