We had a lovely drive up to O'Reilly's for a walk around and lunch. On arriving we walked up to the mountain cafe, both the men's and ladies toilets were out of toilet paper and hand towels. Upon finding a way through to the cafe deck area and locating a menu, I proceeded to line up to order our meal. The lady in front had requested a variation to the menu and that obviously didn't work out too well as she placed her drinks back into the fridge and stormed out of the cafe! We ordered a Mountain burger each(a $17 standard hamburger) which was bought out promptly to our table had to search the cafe for the serviettes and salt for the unsalted chips. The mince patty was cold and appears to be one of those frozen processed types and tasted like it. The buildings look like they have had better days renovation time? It is one thing charging gourmet prices, it is another serving food that is worse than kicked out from an outback truck stop. Considering the numbers of international tourists visiting this beautiful location it is embarrassing the low standards of this cafe. Bring your own lunch if you want to visit.
I placed a simple order for two double-shot coffees and a roll from the pre-made food selection. All that was required was to cut the roll in half and serve it. I had to clear the table myself, and when the coffees arrived, one had a double shot while the other did not. We waited 25 minutes for the roll, but it still hadn’t come, so I had to ask about it. Eventually, it was served. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet when I raised my concerns, they couldn’t offer any refund because the staff said they weren’t authorized to do that. Overall, I found the experience to be unsatisfactory. By the way, I noticed that the table next to us also had to ask for their food.
No, just no. While the coffee and hot chocolate are decent, everything else we experienced was disappointing. In the restaurant, we encountered poor service and an undercooked steak. At the café, the service was slow, the onion rings were cold, and the burger buns were stale. I suggest you self-cater during your visit to Lamington.
Definitely deserving of a higher rating! The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, and the location was fantastic. Prices were reasonable as well. The service was very efficient. I would definitely return!
