Falstaff - Canterbury

The scones at this restaurant were exceptional - truly delightful cakes that were not overly rich or fancy, allowing us to enjoy them after the sandwiches and scones. The staff were incredibly friendly and eager to assist. They also offered bottomless tea refills. We will definitely be returning to this place.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive and polite. It made our anniversary celebration even more special.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the receptionist who was clearly in the role of reception but rudely gestured us towards the restaurant and pointed out two table options. Instead of escorting us to our table, he simply walked away. We were then left unattended for 10 minutes before a waitress finally offered us tea. I had to inquire about our champagne as the receptionist had failed to pass along our voucher. Throughout our visit, we were made to feel like an inconvenience and the cream tea we ordered was just average. The staff continued to neglect us for an additional 20 minutes. Overall, we had a disappointing experience and would not recommend this restaurant. This was the worst cream tea experience we have ever had.

Lovely Hotel, very busy Saturday. Lots of large parties (hen party, baby showers etc). Student waitress , appeared unable to ‘swap’ out the meat and egg sandwiches for me. Informing me they might not have enough sandwiches to make the change! Forgot to bring the tea with the food. Had to ask twice. Nothing ‘luxury’ about the experience , including a tiny packet of ‘love heart’ sweets rather than a second cake choice. Basic at best.

Cosy decor, reasonable price, great food. Perfect Sunday outing. Staff were friendly and attentive.
