Lou Souleou - Cannes

A charming restaurant on the front overlooking the Med. The staff are friendly & very helpful. We both had mussels. They tasted great but were not the best we have had. However @ €12 they did not break the bank. A 1/2 litre of house wine @ €10 was also fine. Remembering that this was Cannes during the film festival we both thought we had a very pleasant, relaxed lunch in a beautiful location.

The restaurant is a little bit hidden and not (!) directly at the port. The advertisment of the restaurant writes: Specialtes des Poisson frais, crustaces, Bouillabeisse, Bourride and Paella. We have orfered seafood gratin pescadeur. The result was a nightmare (see the picture) Although the restaurant was almost empty we needed to wait 1 hour. The taste was not fresh (mussels and oysters) and it looked and smelled awful. The restaurant looks old fashioned and not renovated since decades. The service is poor and you will get a bad value for money.

When we were here we have taken a menu, and we took the sole meuniere. The croute of the sole was not attached to the sole itself, and even worse, one of them was not fresh. When we mentioned this to the staff this guy became mad at us and told us it was impossible. Next, because we had the menu, we ordered the cheese and a carafe of red housewine. However the carafe he brought us was filled with VINEGAR instead of wine. We send it back, he did not excuse himself for the 'mistake' but said he opened an old bottle.... rediculous of course! concluding: the food wasn't very good and the service was bad and rude. I truly cannot recommend this place.Nous avons pris un menu, et dans le menu nous avons pris le sole meuniere. La croute du sole etait non fixé, mais pire que ca, une des soles n'etait pas frais. Quand nous avons dit la a le monsieur, il se fache a nous. Ensuite nous avons ordre le fromage comme dessert, et avec le fromage un pichet de vin rouge. Mais qu'est-ce qu'il nous donne? Un pichet de VINAIGRE! Quand nous avons le renvoyé, il nous a dit que c'etait une vieiile bouteille.... quel absurdité! Alors: la nourriture n'etait pas bonne et le service etait horrbile, vraiment aucune politesse! Je ne peux pas du toux recommandre le Lou souleou a Cannes.

This restaurant is the perfect place for everyone who love the French kitchen. The food is excellent - it really is - and it's super affordable. The stuff are so great and helpful. Nr. 1 place in Cannes. For sure

An authentic family run restaurant overlooking the sea which has been going since the early 60s. Very friendly good humoured service. The food is good and at a great price. I highly recommend.
