N38°31,421' W28°39.552' outside of horta on the way to the airport, restaurant ponta furada not for tourist. it is a large space when you look at the oversized parking lot, with interior with beautiful tablecloth and the obligatory huge flat-screen television, so that the football can surpass the sensory experiences of a good meal. in august 2016 we were uneven in their pond. the menu can not be impressive, besides their honest and low trips, but the employees know their eating and preparation. the waiter knew much about any type of fishing from the well-known Consumer’s guide to azorean seafood. before the order we were shown to the donator of our meals: a fresh Almaco jack. other options are stored in deep freezer. while the restaurant is filled with native, we enjoyed the almaco jack. the meat and the bones separated well. very well prepared. beautiful aroma and texture. we ordered a bottle of white wine that failed the first tasting. we returned this wein and as alternative we ordered the well-known local white wine from pico: free gigante superior 2015 for €10, 50. unfortunately a glass of returned weines was placed on the bill. we have both finished with a biscuit pudding and a mandel pudding for €6. very nice. the service was impressive (besides the glass weeping on the bill), the indoor and tablecloths (besides the large flat screen television), were nice and the eating was great and not expressive. Do not forget that they need a taxi to return to ponta delgada. highly recommended.
Large costs/benefits. eating is typical azoren served on a buffet (all can eat them) I have paid for eating a glass of wine and coffee. 8.50€ azorene tends to be salty.
