My wife and I went to onred for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was great.

It's increasingly rare these days to find a restaurant that manages to offer warm ambience, good service and good food in a modern setting. On Red achieves all of those things. It was recommended to us as a great venue for a dinner for two to celebrate a special occasion and we were not disappointed. The service was attentive but unobtrusive, the four course menu was interesting and the food which arrived at a pleasingly measured pace, was very good quality. Of the four courses, the main course and dessert were the best. The "second starter" (pork belly for my husband, sugar seared lamb for me) was not as hot as it could have been and was on the smaller size, even for a dish in a series of four. The main courses were excellent and the desserts (chocolate pudding and apple crumble) offered fantastic flavour combinations. The wine list was pleasingly diverse, with a good range of prices. Sadly, our big night out had to end by 10.15pm as we were the last diners standing. It's a product of the dining culture of Australia - we eat far too early and restaurants are too eager to start turning up the lights and signalling the end of the evening. We would have stayed for coffee and another drink but it would have been a lonely experience. Overall, a very nice night out. It's just a shame the Antipodes doesn't offer a longer dining experience even in a restaurant that styles itself as high end.

A special spot showcasing Canberra's beautiful vista - autumn is particularly colorful and coupled with a lovely 3 or 4 course lunch is well worth a try!
