Cold bacon and undercooked eggs just don't do it for me - and when the coffee is burnt as well....even the gum tree outside can't save the day.
We checked out Beess and Co for breakfast. The service was a little slow and it took ages to order a second coffee, but the food was perfectly good. Lots of traditional breakfast items - pancakes, eggs and bacon, etc. We went for the ricotta pancakes, and breakfast bruschetta and the poached eggs on toast with a side of avocado and mushrooms. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Our Older Gentlemen coffee group has returned to Beess and Co as our summer venue this year due to our other regular venue serving stale scones on too many occasions. Beess and Co has a range of freshly baked cakes and slices, such as hummingbird cake, flourless orange cake, a super slice and a cherry and chocolate cake. Then there’s the scones—fresh, baked daily and enormous. You only need one unless you have a hearty appetite. They tend to sell out so there’s no chance of getting stale, day old scones. Coffee is flavoursome and strong and the tea brewed fresh. The staff are friendly and chatty. The venue is lovely with outdoor seating under massive oak trees. There are tables inside as well. Parking is available around the shops although much of it is limited to one hour or short stay. You can get parking spots in the surrounding streets so we’ve never had issues with parking. The meals on their menu are terrific too. The chorus of singing magpies adds to the ambience.
This place ticks all the boxes for a casual, comfortable place to enjoy good food inside or out. They even have a frozen dish available to pick up and take home if that is convenient for you. Many types of tea to choose from. You can choose healthy or totally decadent types of food. All day breakfast, closes at 4pm.
I googled best eggs Benedict in Canberra and the review for Beess and Co was good in nearby Yarralumla. It wasn't promising on arrival. The farmers daughter was packed and very few people in Beess and Co. Barista charming but young and latte thin. Eggs benedict was ruined by way too much vinegar. At least not a packet hollandaise. Very good quality bacon. Overall disappointing.
