A friend and I came for a drink and a snack prior to attending a performance at Canberra Theatre. We had wine ($13 a glass), sourdough bread with butter ($8), three cheeses on a cheese board ($30) and the local special of black pudding on toast ($8). It was quite a filling selection.
We visited Bar Rochford with another couple and had a great evening. Interesting wine list, a really warm and pleasant atmosphere, and great tastes to share. Recommended
Bar Rochford is a great wine bar, with a small ever changing menu of share/taste plates, meats and cheeses etc... The staff have excellent wine knowledge - so don't be scared to get them to make a recommendation. The bar is happily situated in Canberra's historic Melbourne building (upstairs). The only drawback is the acoustics aren't great, but if you manage to grab a booth - the cosines of the atmosphere makes up for it. Great drinks, great food, great service, and great atmosphere
Went there for a early dinner last night. Food excellent. Service excellent. Wine excellent. I'd say Bar Rochford is in the top five of my favourite restaurant/bar in canberra. Well done. We will be back!!!
Up a steep flight of stairs is this vibrant wine and cocktail bar, serving an unusual array of Australian wines and inventive cocktails. We found the staff knowledgeable and eager to educate us on the wines origins and notes. It's open fireplace creates a warm and inviting mood in the cooler months, and the music is played from their eclectic collection. We didn't dine there, but the whole place was filled with delicious scents of food. Bar Rochford will become a regular place for us to visit.
