My second visit for lunch on a weekday and we sat inside as it was rather chilly outside. Very quiet on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered a cup of seafood chowder which was very tasty, but rather small in quantity, followed by a piece of cod with fries and coleslaw. Other dishes ordered was a Pulled Pork burger with fries and a Portabella burger on a gluten free bun with a Caesar salad The prices charged for the Portabella burger itself was $14.95 plus extras for the gluten free bun at $3.50!! and also a charge for the Caesar salad at $2.00. So the whole meal came to $20.45 ,which was very expensive, just eating a burger !! Our fries were very soggy and not crispy at all and the piece of cod was exceptionally small. I don't think I will visit Salmon Point again. Service was good.
This restaurant is part of the Salmon Point Marina and RV park. Right on the ocean with stunning views across the Strait of Georgia. A lovely spot to enjoy a dinner and view. Unfortunately the food is nowhere near as good as the view! The menu is uninspired with selections that would fit into the 70's ... I really wanted some seafood (being at a marina on the ocean and all!) so I opted for the 'Seafood Neptune' which had shrimp & scallops quite overdone in a gloopy sauce over a bed of rice and covered in cheese then broiled. It was so hot for so long I suspect it was cooked in a microwave. I could only eat about 1/4 of it ... not really appetizing. Bruce ordered off the 'fresh' sheet and got a seafood bowl in a tomato-bacon sauce that was mostly tomato and not very flavorful. (However when we ordered ... after I ordered my Seafood Neptune and then Bruce ordered his 'bowl' the waitress exclaimed to him "Good Choice!!!" To which I replied - and this should have been a clue - "Hey ... why is his a good choice and mine isn't?" She quickly filled in that they just get tired with the same food all year so his was 'new'. Hmmm.) Service was spotty and not very attentive. Not horrible, just not great. This is why we normally don't go out for dinners ... they're expensive (My Seafood Neptune was pricey!) and not great. So ... maybe get appies and a drink? The food isn't worth it!
We came after a fishing charter. It took awhile to have our order taken. It took an hour and a half to receive our food. Our server was very pleasant and did her best to appease us. The food was just ok not what I expected from a restaurant on the ocean. They were out of several items. It was fairly disappointing. Won't recommend to anyone.
We recently had a Sunday Brunch here and the setting is beautiful - looking out over the water and the sun was shining so it was magnificent. This restaurant itself is looking a little tired and is a bit dark inside from a decor perspective. The staff were very friendly and they did a great job at taking care of our large family group. The brunch cost is very reasonable and there was a lot of food to choose from. Brunches are not the best way to know a restaurants quality since it is a lot of food that sits and waits and isn't always its best. They had a lovely seafood selection which was nicely presented. There was a good variety of food on offer with some rice/sweet and sour dishes, traditional breakfast dishes and also a baron of beef (this was really tough and chewy meat).I would like to try this place again just having a regular meal to see what that is like. While this was a great setting for a large group on a Sunday, I wouldn't say there was anything extra ordinary about it, but it was 'nice'.
