Beef dip - lots of meat but the fries were overcooked . Place needs a revamp starting to look tired . Come every time we are in Campbell River , will take it off our list . Not worth the stop .
Been here twice since moving here and both times my wife and I enjoyed our lunch. This is an old fashioned pub which serves a little more than the average pub grub. Both times we had great service and enjoyed our food and beverage. The prices are what you would expect at a pub - reasonable. We will no doubt return as we enjoyed the atmosphere, food and beverage.JD
We wanted a pub lunch, and the Royal Coachman was worth the drive. The food and service were excellent, and we really like the English-pub atmosphere.
We went to the Coachman for a nice meal on a Wednesday evening. It was 5pm and fairly busy and after approx 15 minutes a nice young lady approached us for service. We ordered drinks and dinner. Our drinks arrived about 15 minutes later. As we waited for our food for about 45 minutes more we watched as other patrons sitting across from us with a different server. Have their drinks and meal, finish and pay their bill and leave about the same time our meals were served to us. Our hot two for one steak dinners ware barely warm. The steaks were small and undercooked, not cooked as we had asked them to be. With cold French fries that had been re-fried a number of times. The steaks also had a really poor sauce or gravy (we are not sure) covering them. My meal had no vegetables so the nice young server brought me back a quickly microwaved bowl of tasteless veg to add to my horrible dinner. Because we had been sitting so long we decided to order more drinks. After another 20 minutes an old grey haired thin man (might be the bartender) brought us our drinks and before we could say a word of thanks, he was very rude in what he said to us without any provocation at all. We finished and waited another long time to pay our bill. Of course their was no tip (sorry to the nice young lady server). The whole dinner from beginning to end took about two and a half hours and to avoid conflict we paid our $60 + dinner bill and left vowing to never enter that dump again. The Coachman used to be really nice. What Happened? As to the old bartender (we think that's what he was). If I was the owner he would be replaced quickly.
Two of us went in after lunch rush, midweek. Took forever to get a server, took the bar forever to get a draft beer and a glass of water. Finally got a menu and it looked ok. Had a wrap with a spinach salad c/w toasted almonds. Almonds never spent any quality time in the toaster that's for sure. Worst of all was the staff - all of them. It's pretty obvious they'd rather be somewhere else - SO GO THEN!
