A bowl of hot Mulligatawny soup nicely flavoured with just the right amount of curry, and steaming hot, warmed me right up. Things were quiet, with some of the businesses closed over the holidays but service was quite good and food excellent. My son had a turkey bacon club that filled him and we left with some extravagantly large butter tarts, and a huge trio of carrot cakes to take home to share.
My wife went in to get a cup of tea in her to go cup which happened to be a Starbucks cup. He refused to let her buy a tea in her to go cup because she was advertising another restaurant. Terrible attitude and a mean horrible person .
I have often visited Comfort Zone Foods at lunchtime and always order the soup. There is a different soup offered each day of the week and I have found them all delicious. Made from scratch, full of flavour and living up to the restaurant's name. The best mushroom soup I have ever tasted with a variety of mushrooms used and the mulligatawny soup is also wonderful. Their wraps and sandwiches are also great but as their soups are so good I never have room for those! Their desserts are also super and their pies are packed with fruit inside an excellent pastry shell. I was so impressed with their food that I also hired them to cater for my Mum's memorial service and everyone commented on the quality of the spread. Highly recommend this restaurant for casual dining.
Tucked away in a quaint market, a bit out of sight, is a funky little bakery/coffee shop/sandwich shop. Cafeteria style counter to place orders, but to get there you must walk past a display case filled with very tempting baked goods. There were a number of tempting choices on their artistically printed chalkboard menus. I chose the Mexican Wrap.I've had lots of wraps in lots of restaurants over the years. This was possibly the biggest and best. It was too big to hold in one hand. It was chock full of fresh veggies and chicken, and just enough heat to get your attention without being overpowering. Service was quick and staff was friendly. It is obvious that every morsel is prepared on site.
You have to serve yourself for drinks and the pitcher of water is warm with no ice. I asked about ice but they don't have it. Lady behind counter admitted she didn't know how to make anything but a sandwich so I couldn't have a panini or wrap which eliminates 2 of 3 catagories of their menu. Apparently the guy who does all that had just left. The other lady with her was eating something while putting away dishes and going back and forth through the food prep area. Not much on display in coolers of take home food. However, the fresh roast turkey sandwich was tasty and very thick with turkey, veggies and cranberries. The mulligatawny soup was tasty and was thick with chunks of turkey.
