(instagram: @fatnessbcn) we had not yet found any Neapolitan style pizzerias in the tarragona area until we recommend da gennaro in cambrils. good masses very bright and light, quality ingredients and typical vapour dishes. We recommend a lot of your marinara, it was the pizza that got us the most from everything we tried.
A cozy place where you eat very well, with good service and high quality in such pizzas I recommend it to 100 x 100
This place is a hidden gem in Cambrils. It is a family run restaurant making one of the few true artisan pizza in Tarragona province. Neapolitan pizza that is! We are regular customers and enjoy every time over and over again. One of few places around Tarragona where one can get a proper Neapolitan pizza artisan made from scratch and baked in a real Wood fired oven. We particularly like the pizza with artichokes and bacon, the pizza with sausage and Neapolitan baby broccoli. We also enjoyed the Genaro Caprese salad and the Neapolitan fried croquets. A small warning, on busy summer night be prepared to wait to be serviced.
When on holiday with my wife and two very picky girls we tend to eat our fair share of pizza. To be honest we haven't had many great pizzas in Spain. We stumbled across this restaurant whilst in Cambrils and decided to give it a try. We got there early in the evening and ordered our meals and drinks. The service was good a fairly swift. The pizzas were fantastic from a proper oven. Those in our party who had pasta enjoyed their meal but wished they'd had pizza when they saw ours!! Quite reasonably priced too. The only negative I'd say is that when it gets busy later in the evening the service is slower due to the small kitchen area. No such problem for us early birds though. Would definitely return and highly recommend .
Our experience in Pizzeria the Gennaro was horrible. First, we waited our appetizers for over 2 hours, and even after that there were some of our group members who had not had any appetizer. And even if all of us had not had any apperizer, the staff started to bring entrees to the table. I tasted spaghetti bolognese, and it was super dry and it had no taste at all. Pasta carbonara looked horrible, the meat was suspicious. We weren't willing to eat it. We also ordered a carafe of wine, but the waiter brought a wine bottle in the table, but no wine glasses. One of the waiters tried to pour wine in a beer glass (where the beer had already been drank and the glass was full of beer foam! and after that in a water glass. We had to ask wine glasses for three times before we got them. Service was bad, the waiters didn't understand english at all.
