My friend tried the Nashville hot mushroom sandwich and liked it, although it was definitely quite spicy for her! Initially, the ginger lemonade was a bit overpowering for my taste, but after the ice melted and it became a little less strong, I found it quite refreshing.
The restaurant has an extensive selection of vegetarian dishes. Although the regular egg sandwich, which included a soft-boiled egg, cheese, tomato, and an untoasted pita, fell short in flavor and was rather bland, the popover sandwich stood out with its inventive use of tasty soy-cured tempeh as a meat alternative. The coffee menu was particularly impressive, boasting several well-regarded Northeastern roasters like George Howell, Little Wolf, Tandem, and Speedwell, available for pour-over or in bagged form.
The egg sandwich was fairly average, consisting of a boiled egg, a slice of tomato, and some cheese wrapped in pita—nothing remarkable. On the other hand, the shakshuka was absolutely delicious!
Clover Food Lab is a cool café and coffee shop near Harvard Square. I stopped in recently for a coffee and a muffin. The wait in line was a bit long, but the area was quite busy. I had the house-made mole syrup with my coffee and a cornbread muffin. Both were excellent. I definitely hope to be back and try more things. This is a great spot!
The Roman tomato soup is excellent and so is the potato salad (although it could use some salt pepper). Impossible meatball sandwich is also quite good. Great place with a great vision
