I really appreciated the ambiance, and the staff was very attentive (just a heads-up: the restaurant has limited seating, so it’s wise to make a reservation). I particularly enjoyed the appetizers, especially the French Onion Soup, which may very well be the best I’ve ever had—not overly salty like many others. For my main course, I opted for the mahi mahi, which was good but a bit too salty for my liking. I ended up scraping off some of the seasoning. However, the dish was quite creative, featuring fish paired with bananas. I would definitely come back to this restaurant, but I might try a different entree or ask for less salt next time.
Nice little French restaurant in downtown Cambridge. We loved the oysters Rockefeller and the French onion soup. The main entrees were very good too. The steak frites was cooked just right and was a very generous portion. The stuffed ahi ahi and crab cakes were delicious but a bit salty. Overall very good.
Wow! Everything about our meal was perfect and delicious. We had a set meal for a party, and each course was beautiful in presentation and completely yummy. The salmon was perfectly prepared and the pate was scrumptious. Definitely save room for dessert, the peach cobbler was crispy, fresh and topped with house made ice cream. Service was the right combination of attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere is delightful in the old section of the town. If you are staying in Cambridge or near by, this should be a must visit if you are a foodie. Hat tip to the folks that run Bistro Poplar. If I lived in Cambridge, I would be there every week. Thank you for a memorable evening.
Celebrated anniversary dinner here. We had no reservation and popped in around 5:45 pm. It was empty but they were not filling all tables because of covid. The restaurant has high ceilings and because nobody was there when we went in we felt comfortable; actually it was the first time we've eaten inside since covid. I had the braised lamb and my wife had scallops. Both meals were very good. Nice atmosphere and attentive but not overbearing staff.
This is such a little gem. Food was excellent as well as customer service. Cute little place with an amazing seasonal menu. We had the wild boar pate and duck confit to start. Both were so flavorful, just amazing. For dinner we had the quail with pork belly brussel sprouts and the lamb chops with arugula and couscous. The flavors were complimentary and everything was cooked to perfection. Nice wine list with servers knowledgeable about the wine. We had creme brûlée for dessert and it was very good as well. For all we had we were shocked how it wasn't expensive at all. Will be back!!
