I been in Cambria eight years and enjoy going to listen to the music once in a while, which they have every night. However last night the three of us had a bad experience with the restaurant manager. I had called ahead and asked if we needed reservations and was told it would be better to have them. When we arrived we were faced with the manager getting in our faces about how he didn't have any tables. He started arguing with us about how he can't create a table nor can he have us sit on someone's lap. If you're that stressed about your job, maybe you should consider washing dishes.
We stayed two nights and had two breakfasts, one dinner. The breakfasts were less good than the Hampton Inns. The coffee was nearly undrinkable, the blueberries were still frozen as in, stuck together. The muffins were gummy. The scrambled eggs with cheese were the best choice. The dinner? An entree and a bottle of wine were included in our room reservation. We had heard that prime rib was available. It was not on the menu, but we asked, they had it, and that 's what we ordered. A large slab, ordered medium rare a very large percentage of fat, a bleeding center, and the little that was left was actually good. The baked potato and the asparagus disappointing. The butter was actually something else not sure what. And the wine. They were out of their house cab, which came with our bargain, so we were offered a bottle of Angeline Cab, retailing for $12 15. And tasted like it. I really couldn 't drink it and so ordered (and paid for) a glass of something else, better but forgettable. Angeline is in Sonoma, apparently owned by Martin Ray, while Paso Robles has endless excellent wineries. Someone needs to give serious attention to the wine list. The service was well meaning and friendly. Cambria has lots of good restaurants, cheaper and far better than the one at CPL. We 'll go back for the lodge, but definitely not for the food. Oh, and get your morning coffee at Mojo, on Main Street.
Love the grounds, great food service however the prime rib was not good and would not get that again . The insides could use upgrading as well, feels old and stuffy . They could do better . Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
