Bella Bakery - CALISTOGA

Stopped in the morning after a long day in wine country. Quick and friendly service. Both reg and white mochas were excellent. We got a few different croissants to sample (Ham cheese, fruit cream, Nutella banana) and they were all equally delightful. I must say the fillings were very tasty but just the croissant dough by itself was surprisingly perfect.

Great coffee and pastries. It looks like a local’s caffeine-fix spot. Many come in and take away boxes of pastries. Many sit, sip, and chat.

Addictive. Social. Best morning spot. Top notch food/flavor.

My boss uses to say that the hallmark of a great croissant is that the layers are so flaky that you can't help but make a mess. Bella's pastries are definitely flaky and messy in a good way. We got a turnover, a spinach feta croissant, and a peach and cream filled croissant. The turnover was amazing, the spinach feta was a little sweet (like the dough had been dusted with a little bit of sugar) which I didn't love but it was still pretty good, and the peach would have been better if the peaches weren't from a can but it's the middle of the winter so can't really complain. It's definitely not a cheap place but it's worth a stop while in Calistoga.
