The CattleBaron Alberta Steakhouse & Bar

We went for my sons birthday and had an excellent meal. The waiter was very attentive and the food was very good. The steak was excellent. We would go back again.

My husband and I went for dinner yesterday evening to the Cattle Baron. We ate in the lounge. The restaurant is very attractive with very good service. My husband had the steak sandwich ....he said it was ok. I ordered the salmon and was very surprised by the color of it. It was quite tasteless and kind of mushy. I ate about half of the very generous portion. When the waitress came to collect the plates, I asked her what kind of salmon this was. She told me it was farmed salmon !! It does not say this anywhere on the menu! I am very opposed to eating farmed salmon, I do not agree with the methods used and I felt very violated that the menu does not stipulate this! I feel this is a very underhanded thing to do. I will not be returning to this restaurant!

My favourite places for steaks in Calgary. They still serve bread ahead of the meal with great apps and deserts. This is the place I take my guests to Calgary

Tried to book a reservation for Father's Day let the gentleman know I was traveling from Vancouver Island to see a daughter I have not seen in 17 years for a very special Father's Day dinner. Was told cannot make reservation as it is policy not to book for Father's Day I explain the scenario and was quoted policy again was told we have lots of tables we should be able to find you a seat. For such a special occasion we did not want we should be able to find you a seat we ended up going somewhere else and having a very amazing experience but thank you for quoting me your policy or else that would never have happened !

We decided to try out The Cattle Baron since The Keg was busy. We were not disappointed. In my opinion, the steak was better than at The Keg, side dishes were larger, the staff was friendlier and the restaurant was a lot brighter and airy than at The Keg, where it is so dark.
