Thai Thien Sub - Calgary

Decent for What It Is. This Thai Tai location is better than the one in Chinatown and tends to be the busiest, especially during weekday lunch hours. The service is quick, and the food is reasonably priced. Overall, the food is satisfactory. I usually order the ultimate bowl and recently tried the curry, which was surprisingly tasty but a bit too spicy for my sensitive palate. The subs are hearty and substantial, made with brown bread instead of white. I've also tried various bubble teas, including avocado, taro, and seasonal watermelon. While it feels more like an Asian fast food spot, there is a small bar area where you can sit down to enjoy your meal. It tends to get crowded quickly. They don’t have a tipping option on their debit/credit terminal, which is fine in a way. I once ordered a bubble tea to go at the Chinatown location, and the cashier gave me a disapproving look for not tipping on such a small order. They do have a tip jar, but I think many customers either overlook it or forget to contribute, especially since most pay with debit/credit. Just try to remember to leave something in the tip jar because this place is overall pretty good for what it is.

I can’t lie for the prices the food is really good. If you’re in the area go grab a fair priced banh mi!

The menu leaned more towards Vietnamese cuisine, featuring items like subs and vermicelli bowls, which I found a bit misleading given that the restaurant's name is "Thai Tai." I ordered the lemongrass chicken with prawns in a vermicelli bowl, which arrived fairly quickly. The dish included a sizable piece of chicken and 3-4 plump shrimp. While I’ve had better vermicelli, for around $9, I really couldn’t complain.

The subs are enormous! I couldn't even finish mine... I probably could have shared it with my lunch companion.

Really yummy Banh Mi and other Thai food. Vegetarian options. We really enjoyed the tofu banh mi sub and the salad. The new caramelized black pepper tofu is so good. Super affordable. Great cheap eats. Big sandwich. Nice staff.
