Spice Cafe and Lounge - Calgary

Love, love, love their Malaysian curry on rice. Right amount of spice to give that kick. They have raised the prices from when I first started coming here but good Malaysian food is hard to find in this city. Until then, it's a good spot for lunch!

Not sure what the fuss is about based on previous reviews. Our group frequent Spice Cafe and not once has anyone been mistreated. The staff is a make up of different backgrounds so I don't agree with the previous comment. We find Spice to be a solace when we get out of the office, not to mention the excellent quality of the food. You pay for what it is worth as everything is always made fresh to order. I can't say that about the other places around.<br/ <br/ This place can get extremely busy so if you are looking for a quiet lunch spot that is full service, I can agree that it may not be up to expectation of those who wants fine dining over lunch and requires atmost attention.<br/ <br/ Overall this is a great breakfast and lunch spot downtown.

Meh Curry. My thoughts on the lunch special today: lamb curry for $12 with rice. This was on the cafe/fast food side. The rice was high quality jasmine rice and the curry was OK, not great. Expected more coconut and spice heat in the curry. The sauce was thinner (more watery) than I expected too. Just 5 small pieces of lamb and about the same of potatoes. Pricey for what you get. I rate it a 7 out of 10.<br/ <br/ Tried the restaurant side for lunch a few months ago. The food was good, but not great for a fairly high price.

Great and easy access Malaysian food +15 (one of very few in Calgary)  <br/ <br/ Location: Great for professionals on west end of downtown, +15 access for colder days<br/ Ambiance: Good seating area, might get full early (go before noon if you want to make sure seating is available)<br/ Service: Very friendly staff<br/ Food Quality: Excellent<br/ (Try super hot option if you like spicy food)<br/ Food Quantity: Decent portions<br/ Restrooms: N/A<br/ Value for Money (VFM): 6.5/10 (expensive)<br/ <br/ Overall Experience: Great tasting Malaysian for lunch on +15 level with friendly service.

Best Laksa in the city!. Whenever I'm feeling sick or just need some delicious soup to warm my tummy this is the place I go to.
