I really liked their choice of tortilla and wobble (tortilla was not soggy and wobble were not overpowered). Take a bite into the tacos you hear that you have this beautiful crunch. I would recommend trying this place.
My first visit was a success!<br/ the decor is extremely sea-like and cheesy, but strangely I didn't notice it. <br/ <br/ it was quite busy on the right side when the <br/ service is friendly and fast. eating is great. we ordered that he fish-catching chowder (the meal is) and it was so hearty with large pieces of white fish and salmon. the fried oysters and crab cakes were good, but the calamari was the star. not too much teig and it melts in their mouth!<br/ <br/ we will definitely be back for more than appys next.
It was date night with hubby and we decided to come here since we haven't been here for a while. We made a reservation although when we walked in, it wasn't very busy. Our server was friendly, efficient, but not too chatty. We ordered our usual favourites, fried calamari and pollock and chips. The calamari came resting on a bed of chopped Romaine lettuce with a side of dill and mayonnaise sauce. The lightly battered rings of calamari were very crispy and was meltingly delicious! We were just polishing off the last two rings when our pollock and chips arrived on cute fish shaped plates with two sides of ketchup and tartar sauce. Our pollock was perfectly cooked; it was very tender and flaky with a light crispy batter that wasn't greasy at all. We couldn't finish our chips, so we had to take it home to our hungry son. Thank you, Pelican Pier, we had a wonderful evening!
What can I say about Pelican Pier. We came here on the recommendation of several people, who said this place was the best in Calgary for seafood. Boy, my first experience here will be my last. I can excuse the long wait time because they were busy, but The quality of the food was atrocious. We had some great mussels and the service was great. But the fish and chips had next to no fish. It was a greasy mess that was over fried and disgusting. Fries were cold, but the awesome waitress did fix it and brought out some fresh ones. I'm sure management and the kitchen knows their food is bad. They told us to come on another day where it wasn't too busy. They also discounted the bill with a greasy fish option. If anything, the food should be better when it's busy. Kitchen was definitely not up to par. What a shame...
Best fish and chips in Calgary. Great service. Large helping of very tasty fresh food. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends. Thanks for a great evening.
