La Chaumiere Restaurant - Calgary

A perfect evening! Excellent service, delicious food. Our meals were prepared to perfection! Loved it?

Our group of 4 were guest at this restaurant on the 6th of June and found it to be all that we expected; however, take your credit card for it is expensive. We had the recommended specials, two bottles of wine and dessert. The total cost was U. S. $480 which is a lot for our group; however, all agreed they would return next trip to the area.

We were here for dinner recently with friends. While the menu doesn't change much there are always interesting specials on offer and whatever you order is beautifully prepared and presented. If you are overwhelmed with the wine list, they can make some outstanding recommendations ... And you will never be disappointed. Be sure to have the Grande Marnier soufflé...it is exquisite.

My wife and went here for our anniversary dinner. Even though it was a Saturday night the dining room was only about half full. Even though i had booked our reservation noting it as an anniversary dinner and asking for a private table we were seated next to a large table, quite nosy with regulars as they were chatted up by the waiter, and as they communicated back and forth with others from another table further away. There was no acknowledgement from the restaurant or staff regarding our anniversary. The service was fine, but lacked any extra effort from the servers to make us feel appreciated, or to offer suggestions, or to make us feel like welcome guests. My wife and I both had the lobster bisque, which was disappointing. I didn't actually find any lobster bits in my soup and the soup was thin. Salads were just ok, not as crisp and flavourful as expected. I had the beef filet for my main course and the steak was done very nicely, definitely the best part of the meal, although the accompanying vegetables were less than impressive. Overall the atmosphere was far from romantic, the food was just ok, but expensive, and service was basic only. Probably the best part of dining here was that they have lots of parking right at the restaurant. Not recommended.

The service and atmosphere are impeccable. The food was very good. bit could have been better. I thought the Manhattan chowder was excellent, but was disappointed that the duck confit gnocchi special had no duck, except a hint in the sauce. Considering we ordered it for the confit and not the gnocchi, it was an unpleasant surprise. :) The Grand Marnier souffle for dessert was terrific. The wine list is very good and quite reasonably priced.
