Kagura Japanese Restaurant - Calgary

Amazing food let me tell you, you do get the quality and flavor you pay for. Just be wary as this is quite expensive so if you are on a budget best to wait before heading to Kagura's. Restaurant was quiet when I went with my sisters so food was being sent out pretty quickly which was good, we all left with full stomachs. The Ramen there was amazing and their sushi rolls were fresh :)

This restaurant is very close to where I live, I was very excited to try it out. I went in after a long day at school and decided to try the Kagura Ramen. The bowl is huge, probably enough to feed two people, and comes with steak and a hard-boiled egg. I have never had "real" ramen before, and this was a great experience for me.The waitress that I had was great, very attentive and not judgemental - I had to ask for a regular spoon :PThe price is a bit high for me to be a regular here, but I look forward to trying the shrimp tempura in the future.

Our first night visiting Calgary was Monday night at the end of a long weekend so we were not expecting real fresh fish. We ordered tuna tataki takeout and it was fabulous. The next day we returned to get more for takeout. Unfortunately this tuna was more thinly-sliced, chewy and overcooked and did not seem to be the same type of tuna. We spoke to the manager who insisted that it was the same tuna as Monday night. Sadly, it was not. We would not recommend this restaurant and won't be back.

Situated in the Brentwood area of NW Calgary this restaurant is not easily viewed from the main road. You have to get yourself into the mall part of this area to find it. However when you do you will not be disappointed with either the food or the place itself. Personally I do not eat a lot of sushi but the people who like authentic Japanese food are really impressed. There are more choices, for instance I had a chicken teriyaki burger - it was huge and as much as I could eat. The rest of our group had various Japanese items and it was so beautifully presented that they almost didn' t want to undo the work of art which had gone into it.The servers were extremely polite and very knowledgable as well as helpful. Lovely place to dine and I highly recommend it.
