We went a little off plan when we saw their appetizers and decided to go light on the meal and heavy on...appies. They have a for appy deal and we ordered the clam strips (excellent), the calamari (gluten free option and the best item we had) and the salmon slices (tasty but very small portion). For mains, I had the bowl of lobster bisque (very ordinary and not anything I would recommend), my son had a small clam chowder (very good) and a regular Caeser salad (tasty and large enough that he took over half home with him). So, overall, a three rating that could be a four with a better bisque. Our next visit will be for the fish. Bill total before tip,was includes one coffee.
Our first visit. Food was hot, served in a timely manner and was so good best fish and chips I've had in a long time! Big portions I had pieces and found it almost too much but hadn't eaten most if the...day so finished it all!
I saw a sign on Macleod for this Joey's Seafood and was surprised because I didn't know we had one so close to home. We planned to give it a try during a month reno and no kitchen to cook in. My husband and...I were expecting the type of place where we go up to a counter and order. It was a full sit down restaurant with servers and pricing to match, While we weren't expecting to spend on a Saturday lunch, it was really good. My hubby often orders fish and chips at pubs and thought it was better than most. The food came up in just a few minutes and the fish was moist with a light batter. The fries were pretty good but not great. The coleslaw was so-so and the tartar sauce lives on the table so that's doesn't appeal to me. The young women were great servers and very friendly. The restaurant itself has lots of nautical and seafood references with a split personality for an Asian restaurant. The menu has many Asian dishes so we thought this place had an identity crisis. With everyone in there over and eating fish and chips, we wondered why they would go this route. The décor was dated and dingey and the pricing a bit high so we likely won't be back. Good fish though. We just prefer a better overall experience.
This Joey's restaurant has survived because it delivers as it should. Consistently good fish and chips, and a good variety of other selections. Service was excellent, food was served quickly and hot. No pretentions here it's a fish and chip place. You don't come...for the ambience, you come for good food!
The grandkids wanted seafood for their birthday and crab to boot. Initial thought was a fancy seafood place near by but recalled that it wasn't so great in the past so Joey's it was. It was nice that they served crab. The variety of food...they offer is great and I personally loved the appetizers with the fish tacos coming in first place. That was last December. Tonight, April I was pleased that the service was still excellent and the Fish Taco's were still the best! It was my friend's birthday, my treat and we both left quite happy.
