Forbidden City - Calgary

I used to drive here from Lethbridge whenever I had a craving. It's an excellent place to eat!

I always make it a point to visit this restaurant at least once during my trips to Calgary. They offer a wide variety on their menu, and the classic dishes are consistently excellent!

I've dined here for dinner, had hot pot, enjoyed dim sum, and even attended weddings. The service is decent, which is typical for Chinese restaurants in Calgary. The all-you-can-eat hot pot is good, with a fair selection of food items; however, the menu is smaller compared to other AYCE hot pot places I've visited, but I have no complaints. The dim sum is quick and delicious, and I'm not sure if they account for the number of guests at the table or if it's just their standard, but I appreciated getting more than four dumplings per steamer. The dim sum menu is quite diverse, and the waiter understood exactly what my non-Chinese dining companions meant when they described specific items. Overall, it's a solid spot for Chinese food, and I would definitely return for any of the dishes I've tried here.

Our go-to dim sum place in YYC. Hot, fresh, consistent. Large menu with ever-changing specials. Often a long wait for a table due to popularity. (5/5)

This spot is in our regular Dim Sum rotation. One of the better places in terms of food quality, as most Asian restaurants in Calgary service is in the style of “You have to ask to get what you want”. People who come here and expect the staff to be at your beck and call will be disappointed. Try the turnip cake in XO sauce
