Was very excited to see that this place had a gluten free poutine, they are close to me and they had a pad thai poutine! But sadly I was disappointed. We got the pad thai poutine as it was part of the meal share plus we got the regular poutine. The pad thai had potential but there was WAY too much sauce on it. I liked it but we got the share size and two of us couldn't even finish half as the sauce was just way too much. It was spicy but that wasn't the issue as we like spice but it was just so much sauce that you loose the poutine flavour. I gave this review 4 stars because the regular poutine was VERY good and GLUTEN FREE! They have a designated deep fryer! We noticed you can sub a gluten free bun for burgers too. I will likely return just not for the pad thai poutine.p.s the share portion was very big!
It has a decent burger for a spot in a mall. Many malls now insist on franchises only, so it is nice to have a mom and pop joint. Good poutine to accompany the burger
This is a great hole in the wall burger joint located in the food court of Westbrook Mall in Calgary, Alberta. I went for lunch and had the 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger, which comes with a healthy-sized side order of french fries and either a fountain drink or a a bottle of water for about $14. The fries can be upgraded to either onion rings or sweet potato fries for an extra dollar. As for dressings, you have a number of options, including t either cheddar or Swiss cheese and a number of condiments and toppings, including fresh (or cooked) mushrooms and onions, as well as tomatoes, hot peppers, and so on. It was one of the best burgers I've had in Calgary, and brought back memories of the type of burger I used to have in Saskatoon at a place called Joe's Lunch' (for anyone who may be familiar with that place.)! You can also order a hamburger without the bun (if you are watching your carbohydrates.) One of my part ordered one of their prize-winning burgers for $10 (without the extras) and it was a LOT of food, with two hamburger patties separated by a frittata. The food was good, and the experience was also enjoyable--I personally like this sort of unpretentious food, and will certainly return to enjoy it again!
This place was a pleasant surprise. I head about them from the YYC burger competition. They had a creative submission that went over well. Day to day, the burgers are good and affordable $(4.95) The staff tries hard, sometimes you have to be a little patient. Lots of neat items on the menu.Worth a stop if you're in the neighbourhood.
