Belmont Diner - Calgary

This a tiny, hole in the wall so to speak, in the most positive sense, a real gem. I stopped in for breakfast, it was a very busy spot, which is always a good sign. The waitress was bubbly and delightful, always a pleasure early in the morning. I had the Montreal Smoked Meat Hash, it was excellent, and very generous, I most certainly could not eat the whole thing, it would have fed 2 people for sure. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Definitely give it a try.

We do not have enough of these around town anymore so the line up can get extensive (even during the week.) Great open diner concept, eclectic staff and consistent food quality.

We stopped in for a late lunch, hence we did not have to wait long - which I gather is common at the Belmont - but we did sit at the counter (this takes me back decades.) Several family members had recommended this restaurant so we knew we were in for a treat. Our expectations were modest compared with the outstanding food and service. The cheeseburger with bacon is certainly one of the best in south Calgary (Peter's still has a special place in our family) and the Montreal Smoked Meat Eggs Benedict was unbelievably good. I do not yet have a cardiologist but she/he would have objected to the decadent all-day breakfast eggs benny that is certainly one of the best dishes to dive into in Alberta or BC. This is worth the wait. One foodie type in our circle sez we must have the pancakes on a Saturday morning - we can hardly wait. Super yummy hash browns are everywhere. Excellent service - this is a small restaurant with seating for 30ish - it was busy but did not feel crowded. I can't say enough of the quality and bang for the buck! As for Stephen Jobs final words...yes "Oh Wow!"...maybe he just a a take-away of the eggs benny from Belmont LOL

I love this place. The food is fabulous and they are certainly worth the wait if there is a line-up. I'm a self-certified Eggs Benny hunter. Every city I go to and have an opportunity to eat, I will always order an Eggs Benny if it's on the menu. The secret is the hollandaise sauce and to date, this is without a doubt, one of the best Eggs Benny I've had across Canada.

Always worth the wait. Super busy and that is part of this restaurants appeal. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is fresh tasting and super comforting. Last week four of us went for brunch. I had poached eggs with a potato pancake and rye toast. Pancake was nicely made. Just greasy enough. Non stop coffee. What is not to like.?
