Everyone in the are should come on down and enjoy some tea lattes, cookies, cinnamon buns, pies and ice cream! This place is the best in town. They sell trinkets of all kinds, including clothes, scarfs and jewelry. A MUST if you are in town. Do not miss out on the fresh desserts and the warm, friendly and welcoming environment! The owners are wonderful and they treat every guest like they are right at home with a warm and kind heart. Beautiful area!
The Terra Cotta Country store is one of mine and my Mother's favorite ways to spend an afternoon on a weekend. The store is nestled next to a beautiful house in the small town of Terra Cotta north of Georgetown, Ontario. This tiny store boasts a world of treasures from home made pastries and fragrant coffee and Ice Cream, to candles, paintings, jewelry and unique clothes, scarves, hats and purses. If you are looking for a gift for that hard to buy for person in your life, this is the place! Judy, Bob and their 2 beautiful daughters will make you feel welcome and at home the moment you walk in the door. In September they host Buzzfest a collaboration of local artisans displaying amazing and wonderful hand made, unique pieces like sculptures, paintings, jewelry, home made jams, jellies and spices, you name it, Buzzfest has it! It truly has something for everyone. Do yourself a favor and drive up to the picturesque town of Terra Cotta and visit the Country Store, you won't be disappointed.
This is not your typical "general store", rather it is a combination of take-out cafe and boutique, all with an eye to being environmentally friendly in both areas. It is only open on weekends, spring through fall. There is a reasonable selection of ice cream flavours for the younger set, but what is really special are the exotic teas and fresh-baked goods. The teas are really good and in my family's opinion beat the high-end tea chains (they have a small local supplier who blends the teas). We didn't try the coffees, so I can't comment on them. The baked goods are quite varied. The family that runs it are very friendly. Their cups are easily biodegradable, so are greener than most places. Their boutique features such things as cork purses (which re-use waste materials from the wine industry). It was quite a nice spot to stop at while hiking nearby.
We appreciated the excellent coffee and an enjoyable chat with Bob about his travels and photography. We bought a number of his cards.
