We had a fantastic meal at Felfela. Our top picks were the green jews mallow, vine leaves, and kebab. Abd, the captain who served us, provided impeccable service. This was probably the best meal we've had in Egypt.
Do not consider coming to this restaurant! The food has no flavor, it is very expensive, and the service was terrible, with instances of racism because we are Christians who visited during Ramadan. We felt unwelcome from the moment we arrived and were close to causing a problem with the waiter. The bread options were low quality and not fresh. This restaurant does not represent Egypt well in terms of taste or service.
Honestly, the worst food I ate after 2 weeks in Egypt (Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, white desert, cruise on a dahabiya). Right by our hotel so it was convenient. The service was abysmal. It took forever for our drinks, multiple times asking for napkins and glasses. We got the wrong order multiple times, the veggie soup was too salty, and the ginger tea hardly tasted of ginger. The lamb chops were flavorful but the veggies just tasteless. And this was at 21h30! Mostly loads of tour groups. Go down the block to Fasahet Soumaya instead for mama’s home cooking that’s delicious or grab a shawerma. Seems like an institution that is just riding on its reputation but no longer delivering. Sad. Also, way overpriced and cash only.
The place is confusingly the same as a neighbouring high end restauraunt. But this is is a low end fast food restaurant. The falafel cost only 8EGP (25 cents), which is the cheapest falafel I ever ate, wasn't particularly good, but what can you expect for 25 cent
