Several people have commented that this is "the best Indian restaurant in Cairns" and one person has made the claim that "this is the best Indian restaurant in Australia". While I don't think it's the best Indian restaurant in Australia, I can't comment on the evaluation in Cairns. Reviews as all know are subjective and based on the experience of the reviewer. The restaurant is obviously busy. All the tables outside were occupied so I chose to sit indoors instead. It serves takeaway and onsite meals. There were several people ahead of me in the queue to order. My choices for the meal - goat masala, peshwari naan which their menu informs is bread stuffed with fruit and nuts and steamed rice. The only variation to my order was that the rice was saffron basmati rice instead - no real problems there. The naan was freshly cooked, a little oily, scant sultanas and I didn't taste any nut flavour. The goat masala was flavoursome but was really bony. I asked the waitress what part of the goat the meat came from - she didn't know - and I later ascertained from one of the men on the counter that the restaurant buys in the already cut up goat pieces,so of course, he couldn't answer my question either. I am presuming, therefore, that it is neck, shank and similar.I was pleased to eat a decent Indian meal in Cairns but by the time I finished the curry, was tired of sorting out the edible part of it and a little disappointed with the naan in what seemed to be an apparent shortage of dried fruit.I appreciate that the presence of bones in cooking adds to flavour, but I became somewhat tired of cutting bones off the meat pieces and felt the restaurant could have included some pieces where I didn't have to do that it. I occasionally cook goat at home and it's not that difficult to avoid massive quantities of bones and still have flavour. While there, people came and went, families, couples, etc. and when I left the outside tables were still fully occupied.I was pleased to sample their fare but not tempted to return during this visit. The menu, including prices, is available online.
Our food was so good we didnt want it to finish! Easily say it was the nicest & cheapest butter chicken we ever had! The lady that served us was really nice too! U are missing out if you dont eat here!! We were well impressed
We had the best Vindaloo nice and hot and rogan josh with the awsome crew of the indian brothers in Cairns. We will be back!!!
Visited this place when we were looking for familiar food, glade that we found this restaurant. Keep it up guys.
We ordered Vindaloo and Rogan Josh and they were both full of flavour. We love spicy food and both dishes were super hot but the delicious flavours still shone through. Customer service was excellent and price was reasonable for Cairns city. Very happy with our meals :)
