The menu is extensive and the quality of the food was excellent without being pretentious. They also do Pizzas but we opted for the fish dishes. Very nice house wines, both red and white. It is a short walk away from the historic centre and well worth it because it is better value than the busier restaurants. We ate early at 8 pm and it was very quiet which we like! If we visit Cagliari again I am sure we would return to Il Gatto.
A little place down a street that you may miss, but we saw this reviewed in the Rough Guide book. We arrived at 9pm and it was empty. We nearly left as an empty restaurant is usually a bad song, but by 9.15 it was almost full! We had a nice plate of assorted meat and cheese to start and a cold local beer. There is a massive choice of pizza and I enjoyed a crispy pizza alla mare with a salad. It was about 15 inch diameter and our server was a little disappointed I didn't finish it and offered prando (take out). PS try the groovy bars at the junction of Felice and Carlos Mameli first.
Il Gatto is a neighborhood restaurant with fine pizza, local specialties, great service, and unbelievable desserts. The waiters were very professional and the overall experience was good.
Really good food in the center of Cagliari. Maybe the prices are a little to high.
We were on the hunt for Pizza and were initially disappointed as we found most places were not serving pizza at lunch time. However this was such a nice place we decided to stop and try the home made pasta which was excellent. Very busy with locals and tour groups. Great lunch stop.
