Reasonable prices and welcoming owners. This pub offers a laid-back atmosphere where you can enjoy a quality pint without any hassle.
We had driven past the Mount Pleasant on several occasions but assumed it was closed. However, our relatives advised it was open so we stopped the next time we were in the area. Having parked outside we were still a bit uncertain if it was open, but fortunately at that point someone left the pub so we entered through the open door. There are two small bars, and a games room. We went into the public bar where the locals were focused on the horse racing on the TV. With BJ Llewellyn’s stables just over the road, there is clearly much more interest in the horses than Premier League football or even rugby! A glass of white wine and a pint of Guinness cost just £4.50, whereas it would be at least double that in Southeast England, and it would have been even cheaper had I chosen one of the Welsh bitters on tap. Despite being strangers with different accents, the locals were very friendly to us. The furniture was very basic, but at these prices you can’t complain! We will call in again the next time we are in the area.
