Barrio Cafe

After an 8-hour bus ride from Costa Rica, I was starving when I arrived at this restaurant. The service was excellent, with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful and the seating was comfortable. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely be returning!

During our 3-day stay in SJDS, we discovered this wonderful place. Despite the noise mentioned in other popular reviews, we found the music to be calm and soothing, so there was nothing to worry about. The presence of a night guard also gave us a sense of security against unwanted visitors. The rooms were impeccably clean, the water was hot, and the prices were very reasonable for the area. I must mention the delicious food as well - the included breakfast was fantastic, allowing us to mix and match dishes like the fruit bowl and eggs. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch there, with the best nachos we had throughout our entire journey (see attached picture)! I highly recommend staying here and trying out the food.

Nice place with a good food and drink selection. It is a little pricey, but the food is good. We had a club sandwich and a mozzarella, avocado and tomato sandwich with balsamic glaze and caramelised onions. Both came with crunchy fries and really nice ciabatta. The place was very busy, but service was quick and the staff were nice. They were advertising a watermelon and basil gin and tonic which I'm now kicking myself for not trying.

A very average 3-star hotel, friendly staff but the hotel is simply of poor quality and the friendliness of people working there cannot make up for it. The same applies to the service in the cafe. The food is good but you wait for it for too long. If you prepay for breakfast when you book your room, you will be limited by 5 breakfast options to choose from. That was a bit unexpected.

The coffee at this restaurant is delicious. I have visited several times and would definitely return to try more dishes on the menu. The staff is super friendly and the portions are large, so make sure you come hungry. The menu is neat and the service from the staff is extraordinary. The burger was a bit heavy for my liking, but the Eggs Benedict was pleasant and the wrap was good. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is very nice.
