We tried many items off the menu and loved them all. From gator bites to stir fry shrimp to fried shrimp and fish to jambalaya, to shrimp gumbo to cajun fries it was all so good. The staff was so friendly and helpful to us Yankees chosing what to have. The chef came out and talked with us. Wish we had more time in the area we would most definitely have been back.
The menu hints that they serve catfish, but they don't. Mississippi produces half of the US production of catfish, but this joint buys fish from out of the country, which is not catfish as we know it. My wife had the red beans. She liked the sausage, but found the red beans uninteresting. I have eaten oysters there, twice and was disappointed both times. The taste was not good and the breading was very un-Southern.
The Lost Cajun is a small restaurant chain that I first came across in Tennessee. I have also tried their location in Pearl, Mississippi and now this location in Byram, Mississippi. The Lost Cajun is pretty consistent, at least in the three locations that I have been to. The cat-toufee is a great choice to go with. Fried catfish with crawfish etoufee. You really cannot go wrong with this incredible combination. It was definitely a meal to be embraced. I guess the origin of this restaurant chain is that a gentleman named Raymond Griffin moved to Colorado from Barataria, Louisiana and opened a gumbo shop. That gumbo shop became the nucleus of The Lost Cajun restaurant chain and is a growing franchise restaurant across the United States. The food is good and the concept is cool. I woukd definitely recommend here and give it five stars.
The food I had this time was not as good as it had been during my previous visits. I felt quite disappointed because I was hoping for the same level of quality I had experienced before.
The service here is excellent, but unfortunately, the food consistently misses the mark. I’d recommend heading to McDonald's instead.
