The atmosphere is laid-back with some old-school radio music playing in the background, which adds to the fun vibe. The service is fast and efficient, but be sure to ask for extra bowls if needed.
I am never disappointed by Lao Shan Dong. They always serve generous portions of noodles and beef. I adore their house-made noodles for their chewiness. The broth is delicious and has only improved over time. If you're searching for high-quality beef noodles at a great price, I highly recommend coming here. It's the perfect comfort food for a chilly, rainy day.
I’m a sucker for handmade noodles and great valued food and Lao Shan Dong definitely delivered. Located by Metrotown, check. Handmade noodles, check, good portions and price, check! After a quick glance of the menu outside, and a quick peruse through Yelp reviews, this seemed like a great place for lunch.
Lao Shan Dong Homemade Noodle House is located across street from Metrotown. The location is very easy for people to find. I went to this place for lunch with my friend last week. It’s a small restaurant. The servers are very friendly. We’ve ordered Two Braised Beef Flank in soups, Cool mixed dry seaweed noodle, and cool mixed jelly fish. All the food was from homemade. The food came so fast. The cool mixed dry seaweed noodle and jell fish taste a little sweet, which is very great for summer. The beef noodles were hot and fresh. There are lots of vegetable and meat in the soup. Very large portion. The soups were very tasty. If you want a cheap and delicious Chinese homemade food, you should definitely go this restaurant.
This morning, for some reason, I was craving a bowl of Taiwanese beef noodles. So we decided to revisit Lao Shan Dong after 5 years. We started with jellyfish and tofu with century eggs for appetizers, followed by two bowls of beef shank tendon noodles and an iced soy milk. The appetizers were average, nothing too special. However, the beef noodles were still delicious. The broth had no MSG, just the pure taste of beef stock. The shanks and tendons were tender and generously sized, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. While it may not be the absolute best Taiwanese beef noodle, it was still a satisfying and comforting meal.
