La Forêt - Burnaby

The atmosphere is lovely. It's hard to believe this place used to be an auto body shop! The food is good, but unfortunately, the pasta cooled down too quickly, which made it less enjoyable. However, the croissant was excellent, and the squid ink bun was delicious.

I would give this place 4 stars for the atmosphere! The ambiance is fantastic, with beautiful artwork, plants, and a great setup. The entire café has a stylish vibe that combines chic, retro, and urban elements. However, I can’t say much about the food. Unfortunately, I could only order pastries since I arrived six minutes late for brunch (one would think they’d still let us order given the long line, but that’s beside the point). I tried two croissants and a banana bread, and honestly, I've had much better pastries from Safeway or Save-On.

**The Bad:** However, I found the platters to be smaller than what you would typically get at Denny's or Cora's, which are similarly priced (in the low $20 range). **The Ugly:** One downside was that coffee costs $3 for a regular-sized cup but is not refillable, so I had to make my one cup last while supplementing with water.

The food surprised my expectations and the menu was quite unique. I enjoyed the bulgogi sandwich on squid ink bread and we also got the chicken platter. The vanilla lavender drink was really good. The natural lighting and all the plants made this a niceplace to visit, hangout and take pictures. I wish I could try some of the cakes.

Lovely spot with amazing conception! So spacious with high ceiling and skylights where natural lighting, a nice mini-tropical forest in the centre of the space, plenty of seating options including a concrete bench, modern decor, wide food and beverageoptions. Tried the chicken and waffles. Looks amazing! Chicken was tasty and cut into handy bitesize pieces. Waffles also weredelicious. On the other hand, it?s pricey : The LONG waiting time could upset you though. Looking forward to seeing morelocations.
