Mokutanya - Burlingame

We visited the city and tried this place for the first time. Love the food we have ordered above all the spicy beef and the wagyu beef cattle. However, the service could use some improvements? For example, we had to ask for spoons to eat our rams. Hut, we want to come back when we get in town.

SUCH a cool place! We were at Hyatt Regency after a positioning flight in SFO to fly to Europe the next day. We found Mokutanya on Yelp just 3 minutes from our hotel. It was soooo cool! I've never been to such a restaurant. The tables are divided into rooms through glass partitions and each have sunken areas where your legs go. The spits were so amazing. Our favorites were the spicy pig bell, black cod, spicy caravan and the bacon Enoki mushroom growers. Everyone who worked there was really nice. Be warned... Last call (on Tuesday) is 10:00, not a minute later. The atmosphere turns from dark, atmospheric, romantic with great house or pop music to bright lights and mops on the ground the second it will be 11:00. I wish that would not be the case, but otherwise we recommend!!

That's one of the best restaurants I've ever visited. Almost everything we ordered was amazing and the service was great. I can't stress enough that you can't go wrong with something you order. When you re in the bay you need to go out your way to try this!!!

10 minutes earlier than our reservations advised and had to wait to get space. This seems to be the usual practice, as there were many seats. Finally, a cozy table had been lowered into the ground. Each table separated by clear partitions give you some privacy to speak, but you can see all others. Many small items in the menu. We ordered several types of meat including a Wagyu. Hummer too. Fish. A vegetable. And drink soy. It came out pretty fast and everything was pretty good. Enjoy each of the dishes. In and out pretty fast.

Service was good the bus girl was bad tho, gave us a look and attitude bc we walked in without a reservation, but our waitress was very nice). Food taste meh, nothing special, but highly overpriced $50/person but we certainly didn't walk out too full). Takes FOREVER for the food to come ~60 mins). Def would not come back. Oh ya, parking wasn't easy either.
