After a few mins a member of staff came over and said yes. We asked for a table and were shown to a high table. Being I asked if we could sit on a standard table and pointed to one in corner. The waiter showed us to the table and cleared empty glasses from the customers before and left. mins later I saw the waiter speak to another waiter, pointing to us. The new waiter headed to our table. he said loudly "you don't have menus because the table next to you was made" I explained that the other waiter took us to this table because he cleared the empty glasses. I then offered to move because the table hadn't been wiped. He said no and carried on laying our cutlery on a dirty table! Again I pointed out that the table was dirty, he said it is fine and continued to lay it! I was shocked and intimated. We left without looking at the menu
All the other times i have been to Ask, the service has been polite and friendly. Unfortunatly last night was a massive let down to the company. I phoned the resturant at in the evening and booked a table for people at o clock. We got to the resturant, on time and had to wait minutes before we were seated on the sofa's and told our table wasn't ready, which i found very dissapointing as we had pre-booked it. I also noticed that the table they were planning on seating us, was one that other people were on, so they must of been expecting the people to have finished, which isn't satisfactory as they had obviously not made any other arrangements, and ended up having to make another seater table for us, which wasted even more time. At we were finally seated, and ordered a bottle of wine, which we waited half an hour for, finally when it arrived we ordered another one so we wouldn't have to wait again. The food arrived promptly but due to the bad start we ate the meal and left. This is one of best resturants in Burgess hill, but the staff looked like they didn't know what they were doing. Fortunalty we wern't pressed for time, but if we had been, then it would of messed up our time scehdule
I don't normally bother writing reviews, but after the wonderful time I had at ASK Burgess Hill last night I thought I would make the effort and let everyone else know what a lovely place it is. Extremely friendly service and great food. Best restaurant I have been to in a long time
