Despite a reservation at another restaurant (Ferme de Janou) which was closed despite their confirmation of our online reservation, we went to this restaurant. Very friendly welcome and service, cozy cook, typical local French restaurant. Delicious 3-course menu (among other goat cheese salad, chicken on the spit, flan catalane, lovely wine and a free liqueur on the house), we rolled off the table because we were completely full. wonderful atmosphere. Go there and experience!
On Easter Monday 2018 we went to BUGARACH for a picnic and ended up in this restaurant for drinks . Although is not far from our hangout in this part of the Pyrenees neverthelaess is not a place to pass through or visit very often . But that was until we now tried and tasted this place and I guess the attraction is now very strong. This Easter weather has not been very great and I think the seasonal businesses are dragging their feet to resume in full thrust. When we inquired about food they said were closed most days and Wed night was our last night of the gathering. To our delight the Chef/Owner (Renaud) offered to open the restaurant as were 9 of us. Weather did it’s best as was a flurry of hailstones on the way and a cold rainy evening but a nice real fire and lovey welcome was awaiting us. We still had a menus of few set meals to choose from so we had a good mixed selection. I had this Gizzard starter which ate but won’t have it again and was not so struck by the goat cheese one, thought as better than my choice. The main meals were bore, cassoulet and fish . My daughter said fish was nice and three of us absolutely were delighted with the bore but two of us including me couldn’t even be enthused ! So we shared the cassoulet which was excellent and extremely nice and tasty. My wife usually doesn’t like the dish but now we want to go back just for that ! My Desert was apple turnover which was fab. The chef and I think was his wife made us really feel at home and having a home dining and Kids were loving every minute of it. He said be serving the whole of lamb roast from May throughout summer so we will be back there in summer holidays. Thanks for lovely evening and meals.
A group of us ate at this restaurant, and it was the best experience. The appetizers were home-made sausages, pates, cheeses, meat and melon, the main dish was lamb with a wonderful chutney, fresh vegetables, and all the desserts we tried were wonderful. If you are in this area of France, a stop here would be a must for one of the best French cooked meals that I have had.
The owner/chef was kind enough to open his restaurant specially on a Monday evening when he would normally have been closed, when he heard that our group of 7 hikers had nowhere else to eat in Bugarach that evening. He made us a wonderful meal of fresh local ingredients, at a very reasonable price (20€ for 3 courses including wine). We started with charcuterie and salad, followed by fricassée de cochon which was absolutely delicious. It's not something I would normally have chosen, but it was so good that everyone had seconds. We finished off with an excellent apple tart, served with cream and ice cream. The chef clearly has a passion for his work, and it shows! Strongly recommended.
