This is an old and traditional Argentine restaurant with seafood located in the very hot spot of the theatre and entertainment of BsAs. Try fish or seafood cooked in the Argentine way. The wine list is sufficient and at very fair prices. Ask for catching the day and cooking.
Although I have eaten meat, pasta and pizza several times in Buenos Aires, I would like to admit that it was the first time I went to a restaurant with excellent fish food like Sorrento. We all really enjoyed it and the panquequequeque of apples was great.
We stayed directly opposite, so that we faulted our second night in Buenos Aires for Sorrento. A traditional interior and attentive service - a serious plus point to be the waiter, lowered the inappropriate loud music, which seems that every restaurant has the opportunity to let you get in and out as soon as possible. We eat early and served a reasonable meal, although suffering from what we recognized was a common Argentinian disorder. Portion sizes tend to prove Gargantuan with Sorrento without others. A seafood pasta was more than enough for two. Wine on the glass came in 1/3 of a bottle of bucket. This can be considered a value for money, although Buenos Aires is not an expensive city to eat. Maybe more dedication to make the dishes with better ingredients or a bit more skill could be a better idea? So, our dinner was perfectly sufficient, but exciting or tempting it certainly wasn't.
We wanted to experience restaurant food other than just meat. The Sorrento offered this with excellent service and good choice of wines. Fresh mussels, squid ink pasta and grouper were great. Would visit again.
