The seat of the Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe is the castle Bückeburg. Today a beautiful example of the Weserrenaissance. From 1560 Otto IV of Schaumburg, the original Wasserburg has transformed into a representative four-wing castle complex in the style of the Weserrenaissance in just four years. For this purpose, the building was partially integrated into the new building. Heinrich Schrader and Jacob Kölling were responsible as builders. West and north wings were connected by the so-called trumpet walk, an open gallery on the farm side. It has been a long time since I visited the castle with a guided tour, this time only a visit to the outdoor facilities in Bückeburg was planned, for a new visit the time would be too short, I had to be back at noon in Hameln near JVA. Worth seeing are also the two sculptures by Adriaen de Vries, the raid of the Sabinians and Venus and Adonis on the castle bridge, two bronze figures. The originals were poured into Prague and bought for 15 000 Reichstaler. In 1935 they were secretly exchanged for copies. The originals are lost in war. Individual rooms have been visited since 1925, including the castle chapel, the Golden Hall and the Great Festsaal. The castle can only be visited within a 50 min guided tour, entrance 11 €, family card 27 €. Two major events take place every year to get the money for entertainment, in the early summer the “land area”, before Christmas the “Christmas magic”. Parking at the castle is subject to fees.
The Christmas spell at Schloss Bückeburg is an annual mouse. And that's not just because of the fire pliers and the other treats. The exhibitions in and around the castle are unique. If you don't have any Christmas gifts, you'll find something suitable here. When it gets dark, the lighting is beautiful and you get like in the fairy tale. There are many events, such as performances of the Princely Riding School. Of course, this fits the fairytale mood : . This year the Christmas magic of 29.11. 08.12. Look under [here link]
We were looking for the curry sausage, a brand of the castle kitchen, and we said there were only three dishes. We then took the “Strammen Max”; there were two mini-mirror eggs that were burned half by the discounter on a ham disc. Nothing fresh...and that for rich 9.80€!!!! We were often and liked in the castle kitchen.... this has been done unfortunately. The operation was only on the phone, although four people were there. In the past it was difficult to get a place to eat, so popular was the castle kitchen. It's just a shame that has become of the beautiful ambience.
Great concept for regular tourists from all over Germany. These include events such as the fairytale, the land area or the Christmas magic. All these events are organized by the castle and as residents of Bückeburg you often receive discounts.
