I ate the beef soup today with bread. The soup is very good and not expensive. The bread is good. There are many locals that come to the restaurant. The restaurant is very small. If you are in the neighborhood and you want to eat...soup then it is very good. But ... I would not say that it is a hidden gem or amazing as some other reviewers write. The price is very reasonable, beef soup 15 lei, bread 1 lei. A week ago I ate the meatball soup (14 lei) which is good and the meatballs are very good. I suggest that you read the menu (use translator) and decide what you want before you come to the restaurant.
This small restaurant is the perfect place where you can eat a good soup in Bucharest. I was here today. Good idea!
We were in Bucharest 4 nights and ate here the last two nights. We stumbled on it by accident as it was just around the corner from our hotel: the Christina. it's on a busy street. We were up to day 24 and 25 on our 52 day jaunt......and not having a huge meal of same old, same old really hit the spot. On our first visit we both had the Beef and Potato Soup: spicy and delicious. We ate inside this tiny place because it was HOT outside. The soup came with a thick slice of dark fresh bread loaded w/caraway seeds. because we raved about the bread AND the soup, we were given two addt'l slices "for the road".When we returned the following early evening we were all like old friends! I know we had 2 different soups...didn't write them down.....but STILL happy campers. Also given more bread for the road.....which we were still munching on in Brasov. Each night our meal was 28 leu . There was also a steady stream of locals coming in for "take out".If you are in the n'hood..........don't miss Ciorbarie.
Best place to visit for rapid recovery after a night out! The tripe soup is great and very well condimented. I've also tried a bit of the meatball soup and it was good as well - looking forward to try the goulash.
