Went for a birthday celebration and wow! All the comments on the reviews are exactly true. Worst food, tasteless, burned and disgusting, super loud music, very dirty tables. It gives the impression of a club and we didn't expect that. It was impossible to keep a conversation going... Never going back.
Awful customer service. I'm very lenient with waitresses or waiters but this waitress knew nothing about the menu and I would have understood if she didn't have a huge attitude about it when asked. The menu had no pictures to see what you were getting and had been dirty/torn-up (as can be seen in the pictures). The food is very Tex-Mexy and very pricey for the quality/quantity given. The food had been tasteless and cold, even if the restaurant had not been busy. There hadn't been many choices for liquor/beer even if the restaurant is based on Tacos and Beer I'm very disappointed because the restaurant is very beautiful, scenic and the food presentation had been amazing.
That being said, we were seated promptly at Karens Out There, but it did take a bit of time to get our drink orders filled. I tried La Envidiosa and my partner had El Arrepentido - both were delicious and worth the wait. We even ordered seconds. The bartender even took the time to chat with us about the ingredients he used - very friendly! We started off with the guacamole, which was made fresh at our table. We only got three crispy corn tortillas at the bottom, so we ended up paying for more. We both ordered the Tacos Al Pastor, which came out quickly and were tasty. They could have been a bit juicier, but we could have asked for more sauce. We also tried the grilled corn dish, which was a nice twist on elote. My husband loved it, but there was too much mayo-based sauce for my liking. Overall, Karens Out There is a good place to eat, with some minor recommendations. Firstly, our server had long hair, so she should tie it back when preparing food. Secondly, they should serve at least 5 tortillas with the guacamole instead of just 3. Lastly, the music started at a reasonable volume but became too loud as the night went on - no need for ear-splitting music here.
The dining experience here was really enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the tacos, the beer was cold, and the tortillas were fresh and delicious. The service was a bit slow, even though the restaurant was only half full. Despite this, we definitely plan on returning!
