Wasan Brooklyn

My sister and I walked in to this lovely neighborhood restaurant and were warmly welcomed in every way. They were playing the music of the Avett Brothers, who we were going to see at the Barclay Center. So greatly appreciated. A little thing, but so sweet. The food was exceptional. I tried the salmon and sake special and it was a remarkable pairing. A truly memorable dining experience.

Wasan was a very pleasant surprise. I was looking for a place near Barclay's center as I was going to a show and found this quaint and delicious Japanese restaurant two blocks from the show. When we walked in we could hear Mary J Blige playing in the background a perfect set up for the show we were going to see. My date and I were shown to our table where there was a hand written reserved for.. and welcome, Tracy sign which was a nice personal touch. There was also a Prix Fixe Menu starting with a special app made of potato as apparently MJB loves them. Another nice touch, I thought. We ordered a bunch of small plates: tempura shrimp roll, beef and scallion, spicy pork bun, chix teriyaki bun and miso cod along with some nicely chilled Pino Grigio. All excellent. The service was great as well. The topper to the evening was when the man I assume to be the owner came over and asked if we would tell him why we were not interested in the special music Prix Fixe menu so he could learn what customers wanted etc. I loved that he was interested. He also spent time with us looking at the old photo of Manhattan they have decorating their wall and taught us a few things we didn't know. A an absolutely lovely experience. I will definitely go back!!!

We came in to see a concert at Barclays and tried your restaurant. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great!

Great authentic Japanese food in a small local restaurant.

The staff plated and served birthday cake and candles exactly as I requested. They were very, very nice.
