The owners are the best people ever and, when I'm in Greenpoint, it becomes my home as well. Food is excellent, specials are incredible, and their choice of beers always changing and awesome. Wonderful atmosphere, and in the warm months the front is open to the street making it feel very European. In a town filled with great bars, the Habitat is top on my list.
Great local spot with amazing rotating beer selection and a seasonal menu of salads, apps and sandwiches. They always have empanadas, burgers and Mac cheese $5 on Monday) on the menu. Friendly staff, local art on the walls, movies or sports) playing above the bar.
Super friendly service, great beer selection, lots of seating, happy hour Mac and draft for $9 is a killer deal! I would recommend getting the Mac light on the topping. Down to earth vibes. Stop by for a beer if you're in the area and check it out!
Wings are the best in the neighborhood, and the rest of the food is pretty good too. They play movies with the sound off on three screens that follow a theme. Staff is friendly. Busy at night but also has a regular lunch crowd from the film shops in the area.
Okay, so I'm biased. My wife and I have been coming here since our first date, and she's been a regular since the day they opened. But here's the thing about a good neighborhood place: You don't get tired of going. Ever. They take care of you and establish relationships that are deeper than digging for tips. If you're really lucky, you'll see that they are both people who care about your experience, and if you're lucky, people who can be great friends. The food: These are, in my opinion, the best wings in Brooklyn. Better than Superwings, better than Bonnie's, better than anywhere you can mention. And they are tied for best wings in all of NYC with Wogie's (who are the best in Manhattan IMHO). They key is the butter to vinegar ration in their sauce, so that it sticks to the wings, and puckers your mouth. The Cobb Salad is my other old fallback, and the homemade ranch dressing makes it the absolute jam. The whole place is very comfy. It gets packed sometimes, but you just have to pick your timing. I don't try to go there on wing night anymore, or at certain dinner rushes. I'll gladly take a walk for an hour and then sit up at the bar and ask one of the John's (there are two primary bartenders named John) to pick a beer out for me.
