Even when there are lots of customers, it's a comfortable place to have a conversation over dinner. Great atmosphere and service!Food: 5/5
First red flag was when we came here at 1:00pm the place is just EMPTY. the service here is TRASH, the food is okay, underwhelmed when it comes to flavor and the authenticity of the food, and unprofessional. When we sat down we asked what was there recommended food, as “foodies” we try to follow the restos recommendation but the guy just said “oh just look at the menu and read it”… like really ? thats how u treat your customer ? second when the waiter here in the picture was trying to pour us some water, He just splashed it and it didnt even bother. The way he serves the food is like he’s annoyed. The food however is okay. Alot less spicy than we expected, a LOT less flavorful than we expected. The mango lassie was overriped. I suggest you take your hard earned money somewhere else. They dont deserve the 1 star. more like zero. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
The dishes here are consistently good and such a comfort food for lazy nights. The service is quick and attentive when you dine in and their menu has a great vegetarian selection as well as meatier options. It's great for a large group or an intimate date.
We ordered saag paneer and chicken tikka masala from here tonight and it just visually was so disgusting, I couldn't eat it and ended up ordering from another place. I took pictures of the dishes from the two different places, but am only posting pictures of the (epic fail) dishes from Taj. First of all, the packaging here is cheap (tins with cardboard lids that had all caved in and spilled/splashed all over the inside of the bag), resulting in the curry dying my countertops while unpacking everything. Secondly, both dishes were just caked in oil. It looked like puddles of brown mud; you can literally see the oil caked up against the sides of the dish. Such a far cry from the bright colors you expect to see in an Indian dish (which the other place we ordered from did deliver on). Anyway, my partner is satisfied because Taj said they would comp our next order with them, but I have no desire to order from them again. Really couldn't be more disappointed.
I used to be a regular here for more than a decade. Went there about 3 years ago and was extremely disappointed with the food. Was in the neighborhood yesterday and figured I would give them another chance and the only way I could explain my experience was as friendly as the staff was, the food was so bland I cannot even describe it to you.The chicken tikka tasted like watered down boiled chicken and literally had no flavor to it whatsoever. The matar paneer (cheese) was also tasteless simply bland as well as the sauceI hate writing negative reviews but I absolutely will not be going back to this restaurant ever again. As someone who has been to literally over 100 Indian restaurants in New York City, It really seems like the only place you can get good Indian food nowadays in New York is on the upper west side and in Jackson heights in Queens.
