I regret to say that this was probably the worst burrito I have ever had. The rough chopping of the onions and peppers was not good, and the pork tasted strangely like canned tuna. I expected something more flavorful and authentic for $23! The salsa was not impressive either. The rice was also disappointing and the refried beans were flavorless and watery. I have had much better burritos from random food trucks, and I can even make better Mexican food at home with minimal skill.
I stopped by Mezcal's last Sunday for lunch after an appointment in the neighborhood. I was immediately drawn to the quirky, vibrant decor and was happy to find out that I arrived just in time for Happy Hour. My frozen blood orange margarita was delicious and gave me a nice buzz. The glass it came in was adorable, shaped like a cactus stem. The stuffed jalapeño peppers appetizer with shrimp, sour cream, and cheese was filling and served piping hot, but lacked flavor. The excessive amount of gooey cheese overwhelmed the dish. I decided to take my taco salad with chicken to go, but was disappointed with the ingredients. I had hoped for dark lettuce, sliced chicken, jalapeños, cheese and guacamole, but instead received a bowl with shredded chicken, bland beans, pale iceberg lettuce, dull tomatoes, peppers, onions, and a lackluster guacamole and sour cream topping. Overall, I was unsatisfied with my meal. If I were to return to Mezcal's, it would only be for a quick Happy Hour drink and the complimentary nachos and salsa, which I wasn't informed about during my visit.
I highly recommend this restaurant! They serve delicious, authentic Mexican food and drinks. It's not trendy or hipster, just top-quality, genuine Mexican cuisine. It's the perfect spot for a great dinner and drinks!
I asked what kinda meat i can put in a quesadilla he told me no meat ... I rephrased my question he told me the price for steak as if I couldn't afford it . I asked for a steak quesadilla and he said flour or corn tortillas... i wanted to know the difference because no one has ever asked me that and he acted as if i was asking a lot of him. I asked again and he told me flour is flour and corn is corn . I walked out because he could explain clearly what i would be eating .
